Cross Country Captain

I started running cross country my freshman year of high school, and I’ve stuck with it since. As a captain of the SMCM cross country team, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to be a leader for my peers on and off the running trail. Being a captain has taught me the importance of communication, empathy, enthusiasm, and positivity when it comes to leadership. The experience with my teammates throughout my running career has heightened my appreciation for them and my love for the sport.

Internship with Trash Free Maryland

In the summer of 2020, I served as an intern for Trash Free Maryland, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to reduce and control litter and plastic pollution in the state of Maryland and promote biodegradable products and other sustainability goals for the state. Over the course of the internship, I participated in discussions amongst the Board of Directors about strategic planning for the next legislative session of the general assembly, all while engaging with the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
